An online daily putting "Hooray!" in your day
Perfectionists have a helluva time with beginnings. We (this does include you, doesn't it?) freeze at the start of our creative urges because we're overly concerned with our end-results. This stranglehold keeps us in bondage. We are never free to fully express ourselves. It's a self-made cage that each of us proudly shows off rationalizing to our peers, "Oh, once I get the final touches on the paper, the poem, the play, the program, the pie, I'll let you see it, I promise!" (Really? I'll probably be dead first...) The output lessens the more we put into it. Things get messy on the page and the canvas, in the classroom and the darkroom, in the kitchen and the rehearsal space. And we suffer ad nauseum in our pursuit of the Perfect--never putting our ideas/creations out there for fear that they are ugly, less-than, pock-marked, chipped and slightly-off-center, in a word, imperfect.
But yet. Here. Is. The. Truth: Imperfections are really, REALLY delicious! They are sexy! They are extravagant! They are perfectly imperfect! That's life! Get used to it. It's a royal and lovely mess! continued at THD Blog

Can't think of a better way to launch this feel-good place, The Hooray Daily, than to introduce you to three brothers (Sleepy Man Banjo Boys) from New Jersey who play awesome bluegrass music. Yes, they are from New Jersey and not Kansas, where the best bluegrass festival is held every year in Winfield, Kansas. Here, you'll find them on TED Talks.
Note regarding the Shout-Out requests: for the time being, we ask that you send only two requests per week. When we have a super-smooth, operating machine, aka "intern" in place, then we can accept more hoorays from you! Thanks!
THD Quotes (To Bolster Your Hooray)
Perfectionism doesn't believe in practice shots. It doesn't believe in improvement. Perfectionism has never heard that anything worth doing is worth doing badly--and that if we allow ourselves to do something badly we might in time become quite good at it. Perfectionism measures our beginner's work against the finished work of masters. Perfectionism thrives on comparison and competition. It doesn't know how to say, "Good try," or "Job well done." The critic does not believe in creative glee--or any glee at all, for that matter. No, perfectionism is a serious matter.
It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection. -- The Bhagavad Gita
When you aim for perfection, you discover that it's a moving target.
-- George Fisher
Wherever you are is always the right place.
There is never a need to fix anything, to hitch up the bootstraps
of the soul and start at some higher place.
Start right where you are.
-- Julia Cameron
