But yet. Here. Is. The. Truth: Imperfections are really, REALLY delicious! They are sexy! They are extravagant! They are perfectly imperfect! That's life! Get used to it. It's a royal and lovely mess!
How many creations are perfect any way? Take creation, for instance. You know, the start of everything... Would God (or god) have made man if she or he was interested in perfection? Really, shouldn't we all be laughing at this point? Have you seen my freckles and red hair? Have you looked at a baboon?
Okay, enough with the baboon and the color of my hair...How many websites, start-ups, architectural designs, poems, lectures, photos, videos, paintings or lemon pies are without blemish? Right, you are! Probably none. Even your favorite programs and tools you use every day have versions 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 7.7!
Yet, such imperfections haven't stopped Bill Gates from his entrepreneurial pursuits, Jody Foster from directing, Renee Fleming from singing, Zaha Hadid from the drafting table, Stephen King from his laptop or Wolfgang Puck from the kitchen. Every day is a beginning for their creativity. Some of their best work came from screw-ups!
Honestly, I am scared shit-less to put myself out there as a blog writer, let alone a purveyor of a news "daily" of uplifting ideas. How audacious! How arrogant! How insane! Yes, it absolutely is, but I'm not getting any younger and my joy cannot fit in the closet any more than my love can--so audacious, arrogant and insane, HERE I COME!
If I can come out as imperfect, will you join me? What will you create today knowing that you don't have to be perfect and know everything there is to know?
As they say when you are up to 10,000 feet after take off from LaGuardia, "you are free to move about the cabin." You are free! You are free! Move about the cabin. Dance in the aisle...In fact, fly!
